SALON MATA HARI
Eva Borrmann and Dörte Kordzumdieke have been close friends for over twenty years - characterised by intensive artistic exchange and a shared eye for complex female figures.
With SALON MATA HARI, they are adding a new chapter to their long-standing exchange of ideas and bringing their perspectives as a choreographer and dance scientist into a productive and artistic
dialogue that will take place on stage in the form of a lecture performance.
At the centre is Mata Hari - dancer, spy and icon. A woman caught between myth, attribution and strategic self-staging:
Mata Hari, real name Margaretha Geertruida Zelle, was a Dutch dancer and courtesan who became famous in Europe for her exotic dances. During the First World War, she was suspected of working as a
double agent for Germany and France.
Her seductive nature and her relationships with influential men led to accusations of espionage. In 1917, she was arrested, convicted and executed - her guilt is still disputed today. Mata Hari remains a symbol of seduction and mystery.
Eva Borrmann and Dörte Kordzumdieke work from different angles on a fragmented biography that poses more questions than answers. A moving image of Mata Hari emerges.
In doing so, they question their own desire for coherent narratives and are interested in the breaks, the untold, the contradictions - where biography becomes an assertion and interpretation
becomes a weapon
SALON MATA HARI is the expression of a friendship - and an invitation to approach a figure together that still slips away today and touches precisely in this way.
